New monk looking for tips
Hello, I'm starting up a monk for the very first time (this is the first time I've ever made a monk in 16 months of play) and I would like some tips on how to be a good monk that can keep up the party.
Also, what skills should I use for the early game? (I'm starting in Factions) I looked in the Monk Basics sticky, but they have Mo/R builds with traps...

Arg, there have been several threads like this recently do a little digging in the few pages. The "becoming a better monk" thread comes to mind if you do a search.

Tip #1: Don't get yourself into agro of monsters (always position yourself away from monsters to get past the front line, you become a target and need to heal yourself more)
Tip #2: Get into groups that know what they are doing, if you are all inexperienced (you are inexperienced as a monk), you may find yourself wasting a lot of energy fast.
Tip #3: If you have to choose who to heal, the rankings usuall are: Monk, Ritualist, Warrior, Necro (MMing is before all others - even other monks, because lots of minions with no master is trouble), Elementalist, Ranger, Mesmer, Assassin. The Paragon's are similar to Warriors and Dervishes are similar to Rangers (even though they both are opposite attack ranges).
On noob island, stick with free skills only, you don't need anything else. Once you get to Kaneing Center, buy healing and protection skills.
I believe Olly123 has posted protection and healing builds for Factions only (in 2 different threads).
Good luck!

Extension on Tip #3: It's not always in this order. Specific situations call for specific people.

:P some one noticed my threads , any way i disagree with ur last point. becuast it is very raly that all members r being attacked. but i think after the other monk, the warrior shoud lcome first, unless hes not holding the rest of the aggro other than that u got it right by my eyes

Rare, yes, but if you notice my order (healers/protectors), Warriors, etc.
As LightningHell pointed out, it isn't always the case. Intelligent people first, noobs, then the crazy people.
Never heal those who run off and aggro too much. Never rez those who do that too (until they beg and plead and say sorry to the WHOLE team. And they say "I'll never do that again".)
